Travel Tuesday : New Orleans Saints Game

So I’m a New Orleans Saints fan. You can blame it on a boy, but once I’m committed to a team, I’m committed and there is no changing my mind. So this past fall as part of our football weekend, we drove down to New Orleans from Ole Miss to go to the 2nd football game of the weekend.

The NFL takes their entrances seriously.

We left Oxford about 5 am to make it to the game so we were a bit delirious at one point.

The game ended up going into overtime and the Saints lost. To the Titans. Who I’m pretty sure only won 2 games all season. Okay, so it was 3, but still. I was banking on the Saints winning this one. It was still a fun game regardless.

I did get her to wear the right colors. She isn’t a fan, because of said boy mentioned earlier.

Check back next week for playing tourist around New Orleans the next day after the game.

Who is your favorite NFL team and have you ever been to one of their games?

An InLinkz Link-up

So as I went to write this a few weeks ago, my phone rang. My dad was calling to see if I had seen the news on Twitter. I said no. He said that Spurrier was retiring. So then my farewell post to Steve had to be written first.

When you get invited to a tailgate, if they are providing everything for you, it is nice to give a gift to thank them for inviting you. I’ve round up a list of some fun and creative gifts for your tailgate host.

These cute trays from Kaileys Monogram are a great tailgate addition or home decorate for a big fan.

Wine. These Ray Tanner bottles of wine were fun when they were released after Back to Back National Championships. Check to see if there is wine for your team that you can bring pop open during a tailgate.

Everyone loves a great coffee table book. I know they are currently working on the 2nd Edition on this book! Gridiron Belles goes over tailgating, traditions and information of each SEC school and football knowledge.

Everyone always needs another tote or basket to carry more tailgating items in. Kailey’s Monogram has so many colors and styles to choose from. Go check out their Etsy shop to see!

You know that you are going to snap a great picture during the tailgate, so give your host a frame to put it in so they can think about tailgating all week long, instead of just on Saturdays 🙂 And of course you will need something for yourself 🙂

Happy Tailgating Ladies!

A Blissful Haven

The Ole Ball Coach has hung up his visor.

There will never be another like him. He is smart on the field, witty to the media and took South Carolina to a new level.

Steve Spurrier taught me how to be a football fan. He brought us to the top, a place we have never been. He taught me loyalty and passion for my team. He helped root the love of the Gamecocks into my heart.

He gave us 3 back to back to back seasons of just incredible wins. Wins I will never forget, the excitement, the emotion. Alabama. Ole Miss. Georgia. Clemson. He brought some of my favorite players to this city. He did kick one of my favorite plays off the team, but I’ll forgive him for that one 🙂

This video is from one of my favorite wins against Georgia.

The night it was announced, I put on my Best.Season.Ever t-shirt to honor Coach Spurrier and of course was sad.

Happy Retirement HBC!
