The Ole Ball Coach has hung up his visor.
There will never be another like him. He is smart on the field, witty to the media and took South Carolina to a new level.
Steve Spurrier taught me how to be a football fan. He brought us to the top, a place we have never been. He taught me loyalty and passion for my team. He helped root the love of the Gamecocks into my heart.
He gave us 3 back to back to back seasons of just incredible wins. Wins I will never forget, the excitement, the emotion. Alabama. Ole Miss. Georgia. Clemson. He brought some of my favorite players to this city. He did kick one of my favorite plays off the team, but I’ll forgive him for that one 🙂
This video is from one of my favorite wins against Georgia.
The night it was announced, I put on my Best.Season.Ever t-shirt to honor Coach Spurrier and of course was sad.
Happy Retirement HBC!
